" VVCE Alumni Association Best Student Awards 2007 - 08 "
This exercise was done to involve more students for the alumni association and to shun the complaints that Alumni association is not doing any thing to the college. The brain child for this idea came from Mr.Thanuj kumar K , along with Mr.Madhukar, Mr.Uday of 2002 batch along with Mr.Rohit ramnath and Mr.prasanna supporting from the 2001 batch.
The aim of this process was to identify the people who have contributed for the college in many ways. It is observed that toppers are boosted by getting honored, but some deserving people loose out during this process as they might not be the one to get that award.
The jury comprised of the following people. Mr.Uday Chaitnya , Mr.Madhukar, Mr. Chetan N, Mr.Thanuj Kumar and Mr.Akarsh hebbar D representing 2002 batch. Mr. Rohit ramnath, Mr.Pavan and Mr.Prasanna representing 2001 batch.
The process started with
inviting nominations from the students of all branches of 2008 batch.
Totally 20 nominations came from them with various achievements. Finally
15 were short listed for the face to face interview. After this process,
the faculty nominations were received. The students of 2008 batch were
also asked to nominate their friends for the award. Finally the jury
decided to hand awards to 5 people with 3 people securing the best
student achiever award and 2 getting the best outgoing student award.
The jury considered the profile sent by the candidate ,their education
and extra curricular activities, their contributions to the college and
how they express themselves in the face to face discussion.
The jury is happy to award the best student achiever award to Mr. Raahul narayan, Mr.Sonu Abraham, Mr. Rajesh Shenoy.B and Best outgoing student award to Mr.Ankit and Ms.Ashritha. The achievements and the contributions of the winners are as follows.

*Mr.Raahul
narayan (E&E):*
For constant contributions made towards Vidyuth and IEEE fest that
happens in the college. He has also contributed towards the college
placement activities as placement coordinator.
*Mr.Sonu Abraham
(CSE):*
Instrumental in creating vvce.org the official website of VVCE. He
currently maintains the websites operations and also has contributed for
the alumni association's activity by maintaining the alumni database.
*Mr.Rajesh
Shenoy (CSE):*
For starting the "Technoblitz" event for the ASCIS. He has also
contributed towards the success of Vidyuth and placement activities of
the college.
* Best Outgoing Student Award Winners *
*Ms.Ashritha
M S (CSE):*
Awarded All India Rank of 1003 in GATE-2008 with a percentile of 94.36.
She is the only student in the Computer Science department to be placed
in 2 companies, Siemens Information System Limited and Infosys. She came
1st in academics among C.S.E & I.S.E departments in the year 2007 (5th
semester). Associated with "Vidya poshak", Dharwad based NGO from past 6
months. She was the Class Representative in the year 2007. She was an
active Member in organizing "TECHNOBLITZ" event and also an active
volunteer for the Vidyuth.
*Mr.Ankit K
(ME):*
Placement co-coordinator for the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
He has taken active part in organizing the events of Vidyuth and other
departmental fests. He has Organized Quiz competitions in Vidyuth. He
has been the main organizer for the event "crusades" till 2008. He has
designed website for Crusades every year, since its inception. Organized
quizzes for Impulse from the past 2 years. He has also helped students
of other departments with regard to their project work. He has also worked on
projects on Towline Glider, Motorized Sail Boat.
The jury is thankful to all the departments who helped us with their valuable feedbacks during this process special thanks to Prof.Bhojakaumar , Mr. Ravikumar, Mr.L.Basavaraj and Mr.Sadashivegowda for their efforts. Next year the event will add more awards along with this so that all the deserving candidates are honored.
We wish all the students of the batch of 2008 a very happy and successful career.
